This banana bread is a formidable treat: moist on the inside, with a crunchy bite around the edges. Banana bread may have emerged to prominence around the 1930’s — in the midst of the U.S.’s Great Depression, alongside the urge to economize recipes and the emergence of widespread baking powder usage — but the dish is now a global mainstay. It’s just as satisfying over coffee in the morning, as a quick bite for lunch or shared over a scoop of ice cream after dinner. The crunch of pecans complements the bread’s softness. Miso adds complexity alongside the banana’s sweetness. Be …….

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend | Official Trailer | Netflix

Despite its flashy name, Netflix’s new iteration of Iron Chef mostly goes back to following the original series’ format. Mark Dacascos returns to Kitchen Stadium as the Chairman with Alton Brown and Kristen Kish providing color commentary. Filling the Iron Chef role are some familiar celebrity chefs: Curtis Stone, Marcus Samuelsson, Gabriela Cámara, Dominique Crenn, and Ming Tsai. And this time around, the winners are presented with a golden knife. Allez cuisine indeed!

Wolfgang Puck is quite the grill master. In one of his TikTok videos, he revealed that he only sears room-temperature steak — never a frozen steak. After the steak is at room temperature, Puck recommends liberally seasoning both sides of the steak and adding a bit of oil on both sides. Then, he places the steak on a firewood and charcoal grill for optimal flavor and tastiness.

Puck’s aversion to grilling frozen steaks might be warranted. When you grill a frozen steak, you’ll get a deliciously crisp exterior, but the extreme temperature difference will cause the in…….

Inflight meals can be a hit or miss experience – especially if you are vegan or vegetarian.

The food on offer can vary from the heights of gourmet meals created with some of the most famous plant-based brands all the way down to a boiled apple (a real meal served to one of our Euronews Travel team members on a recent flight).

But for the most part, the days when you had to bring your own snacks on board are long gone.

So what is there to eat mid-air and which airlines have the most innovative vegan options?

Just under 100 years ago, two men—one real estate agent and one chef—collaborated on a game-changing idea: cook hamburgers as quickly as possible, and sell them as cheaply as possible. Together, Edgar Waldo “Billy” Ingram and Walter Anderson opened the first White Castle restaurant in 1926, in Wichita, KS, and started selling square burgers for just five cents each. Back then, the pair couldn’t have imagined what their idea would pave the way for: a booming fast-food industry, that, in collective burger sales alone, made more than $92 billion in 2021.

Anderson’s first bu…….

There are many great plant-based Italian recipes – pasta alla norma, mushroom risotto, pasta e fagioli (sometimes) – but none, it must be said, packs quite the savoury punch of a classic ragù alla bolognese. If you believe vegans deserve as much pleasure in this brief and brutish life as everyone else, then attempting to reverse engineer this one for them (and for everyone else who is trying to cut down on their meat consumption) feels very much like a mission worth annoying a few purists for.

The challenge, it turned out, was less in recre…….

There is a select group of computer games whose in-game logic is enough for them to simulate computers in themselves. We’ve seen it in Minecraft and DOOM, and now there’s a new player in town from a surprising quarter: Tetris.

One might wonder how the Russian falling-blocks game could do this, as unlike the previous examples it has a very small playing field. And indeed it’s not quite the Tetris you’re used to playing, but a version played over an infinite board. Then viewed as a continuous progression of the game it can be viewed as somewhat similar to the tape in a…….
