‘Neon Waves’: Bay City duo showcasing electrifying art at Midland gallery – MLive.com
BAY CITY, MI – Two Bay City artists will fill a Midland art gallery with electrifyingly colorful neon pieces this month.
Bay City artists Josh Averill and Mark Piotrowski will fill the Creative 360 Bayliss Street gallery in Midland with their neon artwork. The exhibit, called “Neon Waves”, will open at the gallery at 1517 Bayliss Street on Friday, Jan. 13. An opening reception will be held from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Admission to thie event and to the exhibit is free. The exhibit will continue to be on display until Feb. 19.
“This will be a one-of-a-kind exhibit in Midland with work that is exciting and fresh,” said Colleen Reed, Creative 360 curator and program director.
Neon light artist Averill restores vintage neon signs and art in his neon studio. Averill often collaborates with artist Eddie Schingeck to create a fusion of mixed media art, according to Creative 360.
Piotrowski is well known in the area art community for his ongoing enamel and aluminum series, “Wave Journeys”, a quest to capture the shift that takes place as one experiences life, according to Creative 360. Piotrowski is an arts educator for Bay City Schools. He also dedicates his time to his mural and design company, MARKed ARTs.
“This unique exhibit was actually the inspiration for our Neon Ball event coming up later in the month,” Reed added.
The Neon Ball is a “treat for all of your senses”, according to the event page, where attendees can enjoy art, light, music, food and dancing in the Bayliss Gallery. Averill and Piotrowski’s neon light will shine as the focal point for the event.
Neon Ball tickets are $30 each or four for $100. Tickets include a drink as well as horse d’oeuvres. Click here for more information on the Neon Ball.
